Islamabad: A black law has now been brought in Pakistan to suppress the voices raised against government entities. The Pakistan Cabinet on Saturday passed a resolution on the Pakistan Black Law. Under which criticism of government institutions on a television channel can lead to a jail term of up to five years.

This includes institutions such as the Pakistan Army, intelligence agency ISI and judiciary. A look at the provisions of this law shows that Pakistan is rapidly moving towards dictatorship. According to media reports, Pakistan has amended the Prevention of Electronic Offences Act through an ordinance. Pakistani President Arif Ulvi signed the bill on Sunday, after which it became law. Pakistani news website Geo News quoted sources as saying that the cabinet has also approved amendments to the rules of the Model Code of Conduct of the Election Commission.

Now, according to the new law, MPs and ministers will be allowed to campaign for their favourite candidate across the country. After the law got the green signal from the cabinet, the Pakistani president has signed both the laws. Pakistan's opposition parties have strongly criticized the government's law. Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader Irfan Siddiqui has said that the government is trying to suppress the protest as well as the freedom of expression of the people.
