ISLAMABAD:- The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the Chinese leadership's proposed Global Security Initiative (GSI), claiming that it is based on United Nations principles.

The GSI emphasises the "UN Charter, respect for states' sovereignty and territorial integrity, multilateralism, peaceful resolution of disputes, and equality of countries in terms of security interests," according to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar Ahmad.

According to Ahmad, the GSI promotes a vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security, as well as cooperative and synergy-driven ways to security maximisation, rather than the zero-sum world war paradigm of power contestation and arms race.

It is a timely call to action in light of current global realities, he added, in which the international community is confronted with traditional and non-traditional challenges that need holistic approaches to international and regional security.

The GSI understands the need for worldwide cooperation to address the common concerns of climate change, public health, water, energy, and food security, according to the spokeswoman.
