ISLAMABAD: After Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi's response to opposition PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif's demand for a vote on the no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, Pakistan National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser adjourned the session until later in the afternoon on Saturday.

Pursuant to the News International, the Supreme Court deemed the ruling of NA Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri unlawful on Thursday and ordered that the motion be voted on according to the agenda released on April 3.

When the session began on Saturday morning, Qaiser stated that he wanted the House to address the "foreign plot," prompting an outburst from the Opposition. At this point, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif stepped up and reminded the chair that he had a responsibility to follow the Supreme Court's directives.

Qureshi told the National Assembly that his boss (Khan) is "disappointed," but that he will respect the Supreme Court's decision. In response to Shehbaz Sharif's address, the Foreign Minister stated that it is their constitutional right to bring a no-confidence resolution against the Prime Minister and that it is his duty to defend him. Qureshi said, "We aim to defend the no-confidence motion in a constitutional democratic manner."
