ISLAMABAD: The success of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), with Gwadar Port as its "primary component," is correlated with the economic future of Pakistan, according to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday.

He emphasised the need for a "strong and vibrant" navy had become more crucial than ever before because of the expanding blue economy, marine security, and strategic defence, as per Dawn news. He made this point at the passing out parade of the 117th Midshipman and 25th Short Service Commission course at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi.

The premier noted that these changes were occurring both worldwide and regionally, adding that "the marine domain is always altering due to technology breakthroughs and shifting geopolitical realities." He added, "And I am delighted that Pakistan Navy continues to perform and fulfil our international duties most effectively with its limited resources.
The country's economic development could only occur in a peaceful environment, the prime minister emphasised.

Therefore, our government is determined to provide all necessary resources to enhance the Pakistan Navy in order to make the seaward defence impregnable, Sharif was cited as saying by Dawn news.

He went on to say, "We do not harbour any hostile ambitions towards any country. Pakistan believes in peaceful coexistence and wants to build a friendly neighbourhood. But it's important to avoid seeing our wish for peace as weakness or indifference.
