ISLAMABAD: As part of the New Year celebrations, the Pakistani President House has announced that it will open its doors to the general public on Saturday. The media wing of the Aiwan-e-Sadr or President House, which is located in the capital Islamabad's high-security red zone, said in a statement on Friday that the rare occasion will allow visitors to see the magnificent building as well as its gorgeous green gardens.

The building has previously been open to the public as part of the government's promise to open all state facilities that were previously considered no-go zones to the general public, according to the statement.

Visitors to the President Mansion are need to bring their Covid-19 vaccination certificates and wear a face mask in order to enter the house, which will be open for three hours on Saturday afternoon.

According to a statement from local police, Islamabad was already put on high alert on the eve of the New Year, with the special deployment of over 2,000 security personnel to safeguard peace and tranquility.
