New Delhi: Pakistan has again violated the ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan has opened fire in Nowshera and Sunderbani areas of the valley. Pakistan has also opened fire in residential areas. The Indian Army is also giving a befitting reply to Pakistan. Earlier on Saturday, the Pakistani Army opened fire on army posts and villages in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

With this firing, a week of peace on the Line of Control (LoC) had turned into unrest. At 7.45 pm on Saturday, small arms and then mortars were fired from across the border in the Krishna Valley region. There have been no reports of any casualties in the incident in Indian territory. "Till the last news was received, the Indian Army was giving a befitting reply to Pakistan and both the firing continued," an official said.

Earlier on September 1, a soldier was martyred in the Shahpur-Karni sector shelling by forward posts and villages targeting the Pakistani Army. Since July, six Indian soldiers have died and two civilians have been killed in ceasefire violations by Pakistan in Poonch and Rajouri districts.
