Jammu Kashmir: Pakistan violates ceasefire in poonch sector

Jammu: Pakistan has also stepped up activity along the Line of Actual Control (LoC) amid ongoing border dispute between India and China in the eastern Ladakh region. Pakistani troops broke the truce on Friday, firing at Indian positions at LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army also retaliated by firing on Posts in Pakistan.

Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Devendra Anand said that "At around 8.30 am on Friday morning, Pakistan opened fire at Indian positions near LoC in Mankot sector of Poonch district without provocation, which was also befittingly responded to by the Indian Army. The Pakistani army had also broken the ceasefire at several places in Poonch on Thursday".

According to information, 24 Indian nationals have lost their lives and more than 100 Indian nationals have been injured so far this year due to continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistan. Pakistan has violated the ceasefire 2,730 times since January. People are facing a lot of problems in the villages along the border due to Pakistani shelling. In Poonch, 2 houses and 2 shops have been damaged due to Pakistani shelling in Balakote sector.
