Srinagar: Police in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has once again shot down a North Korean drone sent from Pakistan. The incident took place on Sunday (May 29, 2022) in the border area of Talli Haria Chak near Rajbagh police station in the Kathua district. After the drone fell underneath, 7 UBGL grenades and 7 magnetic and sticky bombs have been recovered from it. Since the incident of sending these drones has taken place ahead of the Amarnath Yatra, the security of the Valley has been further beefed up.

Additional Director General of Police Mukesh Singh informed about the operation that a police patrol party noticed the movement of a drone on the border in Talli Haria Chak area of Rajbagh police station area in the morning and shot him dead. The bomb disposal squad then checked the luggage loaded on the drone. They received 7 magnetic bombs and 7 'under-barrel grenade launchers' (UBGL). Kathua SSP RC Kotwal has informed about the drone that a payload was also added to this drone. It had magnetic bombs and UBGL grenades. The threat of terrorist incidents in the wake of the Shri Amarnath Yatra is increasing. Perhaps these explosives were also sent to target the Amarnath Yatra.

The 43-day-long Amarnath Yatra, which has been stalled for two years due to Corona, will start on two routes from June 30 this year. One of the traditional routes is 48 kilometres which passes through Nunwan in Pahalgam and the other route is 14 kilometres which pass through Ganderbal in Kashmir.
