Pakistani Mountaineer killed due to land sliding, four others injured

Islamabad: A Pakistani climber has died after being hit by an avalanche on a mountain in northern Pakistan, while Italian and other Pakistani climbers involved in his group are reported to be injured. The mountaineering group Alpine Club has given information in this regard.

The Alpine Club of Pakistan said that four Italian and three Pakistani climbers were coming down from a peak in the Ishomman Valley on Monday, when an avalanche hit the area. The club said in a statement on Tuesday that the Pakistani Army is delivering a helicopter to rescue the climbers.

He said the climbers have suffered a lot of injuries. The group of climbers is one of the four Italian nationals. There were Terisio Bello, Luca Morelato, David Bergamine and Tino Toledo, who suffered injuries in the avalanche.  Italian Ambassador Stefano Pontecoro confirmed that Monday's incident took place in the district of Gijr. However, he has not given any details about it.
