New Delhi: Asad Rauf's name is counted among pakistan's finest umpires. Asad Rauf has umpired in 49 Tests, 98 ODIs and 23 T20 Internationals in his 13-year-long career. But now Asad Rauf's life has changed a lot and he runs a shop in a market in Lahore. Rauf is no longer interested in the game of cricket.
Talking to a Pakistani channel, Asad Rauf said, "When I fed (cricket) myself my whole life, who is to see now? I left cricket completely after 2013 because I just give up the job I leave out," Rauf said, adding, "I have kept this little setup. Look, you have to do the job too. In my blood that as long as life is there, then work has to be done. I'm 66 years old and still on my own feet. People should keep working, if you leave the work, you will sit at home."
Asad Rauf was banned for five years by the BCCI in 2016. The disciplinary committee then convicted him of being involved in corruption. Rauf had accepted valuable gifts from bookies and his role in the match-fixing scandal also came to the fore during the 2013 IPL. On the BCCI ban, Rauf said, "I have spent my best time in the IPL, apart from these issues that came up later. I had nothing to do with them, they came from the BCCI and they took the decision."
