Islamabad: 15 August, which is celebrated as Independence Day all over India. On this day, on 15 August 1947, India and Pakistan were divided at midnight. Now India celebrates Independence Day on 15 August and Pakistan on 14 August. This question arises in the minds of many people that when independence was achieved on the same day and partition also took place on the same day then why independence day is different? There are different answers to this.

It is said that Pakistan also celebrated its first Independence Day on 15 August 1947, but since then it has become 14 August. The British Viceroy Lord Mountbatten is also a reason for observing August 14 as Independence Day, August 15 was a very important date for Mountbatten, as he forced Japan to kneel on 15 August 1945 during World War II. Therefore, he set August 14 as the day for Pakistan so that he could be present in India's first Independence Day celebrations on August 15.

Islam is also a reason for determining 14 August as Independence Day, in Islam, the 27th date of the month of Ramadan is considered very happy and on 14 August 1947, according to the Islamic calendar, the date was 27 months Ramadan and the year 1366. This was the reason that the Pakistanis decided to celebrate its independence day on 14 August a day before. While the founder of Pakistan, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, also said that August 15 is the birthday of independent Pakistan. Even when Pakistan released its first commemorative postage stamp in July 1948, it was also marked as 15 August 1947 as Independence Day.
