The Foreign Office announced here on Friday that Pakistan's new Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will visit China on May 21 at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi to review the full range of bilateral relations, with a special focus on stronger trade and economic cooperation between the two all-weather allies.

The 71st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China will be commemorated by Bilawal's visit on May 21 and 22.

"This will be Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's first bilateral visit abroad since taking office last month," the Foreign Office said, adding that the minister's team will also include Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar and top officials. During his visit, the foreign minister will undertake comprehensive talks with Wang.

The two presidents will discuss the whole range of bilateral relations, with a special emphasis on expanding trade and economic cooperation between Pakistan and China. "The transformational China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, a flagship initiative of President Xi Jinping's visionary Belt and Road Initiative, will also be discussed," according to the Foreign Office. It said, "The two sides will also have a wide-ranging exchange of ideas on significant regional and international issues.

The Pakistani minister's visit is part of high-level talks between the two countries, which included Premier Li Keqiang's letter of congratulations to the Prime Minister and a phone discussion between the two Premiers on May 16.
