Pakistan PM invited to visit India, will he come?

New Delhi: India has invited Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the Chief Justice of Pakistan to visit India for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit following an appeal by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. An invitation will soon be sent to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to attend the summit to be held in Goa in May 2023.

India is chairing the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation this year. The invitation of the President's Country is considered a regular routine. But inviting Pakistan is also important because relations between the two countries are going very bad. The Prime Minister of Pakistan, who is facing inflation and a cash crisis, recently appealed for talks with Prime Minister Modi. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday sent an invitation to Pakistan's Foreign Minister and Chief Justice of Pakistan to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit following repeated appeals from Pakistan to improve ties with India.  

According to official information, the invitation for the SCO summit meeting has been extended by the Indian High Commission to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry in Islamabad. However, it is still not clear whether Pakistan will accept the invitation or not. The invitation to the president country of the SCO summit is considered a regular routine. But inviting Pakistan also matters because relations between the two countries are going very bad. If Pakistan accepts the invitation, it will be the first visit by a top Pakistani leader to India after a decade. The last time Pakistan's former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar visited India was in July 2011.
