Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir CM and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supremo Mehbooba Mufti on Monday (February 6) accused the BJP of turning Kashmir into Afghanistan. Mehbooba Mufti has given this reaction on the anti-encroachment campaign in Jammu and Kashmir. Mehbooba Mufti, who has often given pro-Pakistan statements, alleged that the BJP was using bulldozers to demolish houses of the poor and the underprivileged as part of an anti-encroachment drive.

Talking to Mehbooba, urged the opposition leaders in the country to come together and not remain mute spectators to the atrocities being committed by the BJP. He alleged that the BJP has got a huge majority, but it is misusing it. Mufti said that the BJP is working to destroy the Constitution. He said that Palestine is still better. At least people talk. The manner in which houses of poor people are being demolished in the name of encroachment and bulldozers are being used for that, the situation in Kashmir is getting worse than Afghanistan.

The PDP supremo said that what is the purpose of demolishing the small houses of the people. He said that the government says that the centuries-old Shankaracharya temple and the cantonment built by the then Maharaja are also built on the encroached land. Mehbooba further said that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha may claim that nothing will happen to the houses of the poor in the ongoing drive against encroachment, but the reality is something else.

Mufti said that the reality is that LG's message is not being heard at the ground level, as houses with tin roofs are also being demolished with bulldozers. Mehbooba claimed that the initial call for 'One Constitution, One Legislation, One Pradhan' paved the way for "One Country, One Language, One Religion", which has no constitution. He said that the voice of the person who talks about the Constitution is being suppressed. He again chanted 370 and said, "Was the removal of Article 370 in accordance with the constitutional provisions?" No one will be found to raise the tricolor. With this statement of his, the people of Kashmir got angry against the central government.
