Food safety authorities have sounded an alarm after discovering that pani puri, a popular street food, contains cancer-causing elements. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) collected samples from 10 districts in the state and found that most of them were of poor quality and harmful to health.
Out of 260 samples, 41 were found to contain artificial colors and cancer-causing substances. Experts warn that consuming such synthetic substances can increase the risk of cancer, inflammation, and digestive problems. Children are more vulnerable to these health risks, and experts advise parents to be cautious.
The FSSAI investigation revealed that pani puri vendors use artificial colors like Sunset Yellow, Carmoisine, and Rhodamine-B to make their products more attractive and tasty. However, these colors are harmful to human health and can cause serious damage.
The authorities decided to investigate the quality of pani puri after receiving numerous complaints about health problems linked to its consumption. The findings suggest that the use of harmful chemicals and artificial colors in pani puri is a significant health concern.
Experts advise consumers to avoid eating pani puri and other street foods that use artificial colors and harmful substances. They recommend opting for healthier and safer food options to minimize the risk of cancer and other health problems.
