LUCKNOW: A pan-India gang of cyber thugs that were engaging in duping people on pretext of lucrative profits has been busted in Lucknow, police said on Monday. Police said that they have dismantled a pan-Indian cyberterrorist organisation that was swindling people for money online.

The defendants, said the police, initiated a scam in which they lured a victim into making a low-cost purchase from their website, then persuaded him to resell the item on the same platform.

"They bought the item under the pretext of a client and gave a tiny profit to the potential fraud victim. By doing so, they gained their trust and persuaded the victims to invest large sums of money in the company by buying items "explained Firoz Badar, a representative of the cyber cell.

"They used to purchase the stuff under the guise of a customer and gave a small profit to the potential fraud victim. By doing so, they gained their trust and persuaded the victims to spend a lot of money in the company by making purchases.

"After the transaction was completed, they requested the victim to pay money into their bank account, which they later used to freeze the victim's account at the website," the cyber cell official said.

Ayush Parashar and Shahrukh Khan, both from Thane, as well as Shubhankar of Vijay Nagar in Rajasthan's Ajmer area, were named as the suspects by the police. They were all taken into custody in Thane.
