New Delhi: In view of increasing pollution in the country day by day, the Central Government is making policy for a permanent solution to the problem of burning straw in many states including Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. In which a committee of experts of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research has been formed. On this, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Purushottam Rupala told the Rajya Sabha during Question Hour on Friday that a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Secretary of ICAR.

55,000 machines were given to the farmers of three states: According to sources, a committee has been formed in the policy made to get rid of the problem of burning straw. This committee will submit its report in about one to two months. On this problem, Rupala said that at present there are no plans to compensate for the loss of stubble. He further said that farmers of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh burn the straw to clear the field before sowing the next crop. In which the government is planning to train them about the diversity of crops. He said that the government has given machines worth Rs 1,151 crore to farmers for stubble management. 55,000 machines have been given to the farmers of three states.
