The Paris Olympics 2024 kicked off with a grand opening ceremony on the banks of the Seine River, marking the beginning of the highly anticipated sporting event. India's contingent, comprising 18 athletes, will participate in seven disciplines, including badminton, shooting, boxing, rowing, hockey, table tennis, and tennis.

Indian athletes will start their campaign in various events, with Balraj Panwar leading the charge in rowing at 12:30 pm. The Indian men's hockey team will face New Zealand in their opening group-stage match, while Lakshya Sen, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty, and the women's doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto will be in action in badminton.

In shooting, Indian athletes will aim to open their medal account in the 10m air rifle mixed team qualification and medal matches. The experienced duo of Rohan Bopanna and Sriram Balaji will represent India in men's doubles tennis, facing France's Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Fabrice Reboul in the first round.

Harmeet Desai will compete in men's singles table tennis, while the qualification rounds for men's and women's 10m air pistol events will also commence. India's schedule for Saturday includes rowing, shooting, tennis, table tennis, badminton, hockey, and boxing events.

Indian athletes will face stiff competition in their respective disciplines, but the country's hopes are high, given the strong performances in recent international events. The Paris Olympics 2024 will be a crucial platform for Indian athletes to showcase their skills and bring glory to the nation.
