NEW DELHI:  The opposition and treasury benches both continued to protest Rahul Gandhi's comments and the Adani issue while Parliament was suspended for the day on Friday.

In the midst of a commotion, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha both adjourned after 20 minutes. The BJP MPs raised slogans in Rajya Sabha and Lok sabha demanding an apology from the Congress leader, while the Opposition MPs continued to target the Centre over the Adani issue.

Speaker Om Birla attempted to control the situation by announcing Question Hour and asking Congress Member Manish Tewari to submit his question, but after around 20 minutes of confusion, he adjourned the House. Parliament will now reconvene on March 20.

Due to the adjournment, both Houses of Congress did not conduct any business throughout the whole week's activities.

In an unprecedented move, the members of the ruling BJP have been holding up business in both Houses while demanding Congressman Rahul Gandhi's apologies for his comments regarding democracy in London.
The government's silence on the Adani Enterprises issue has been the target of protests from the Congress-led opposition. It has been requesting an investigation by a joint parliamentary committee (JPC).

Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi were present in the Lower House. Rahul Gandhi had met Birla on Thursday, seeking time to speak in Parliament. Later, he claimed that he wanted to address the accusations levelled against him in the House, but the BJP is determined that he first provide an apology.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha, questioned the BJP's reluctance to participate in parliamentary debates on Friday.

"Why are BJP party members scared to hold discussions in Parliament? Why are they speaking here and there? BJP is scared of Rahul Gandhi. PM Modi's 56 inches chest has now shrunk," Chowdhury said.
