Parliament Live: Rajya Sabha is discussing Inland Vessels Bill amid sloganeering

Amid the Opposition demands that the Pegasus surveillance issue and farm laws under discussion in both the Houses instead of the listed business for the day and continues to protest, Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha have seen repeated adjournments throughout the Session. The Rajya Sabha is discussing The Inland Vessels Bill, 2021, amid sloganeering.

The Rationalisation and Conditions of Service Bill, 2021 was withdrawn, and The Tribunals Reforms Bill, 2021 introduced, before the House was adjourned, for the second time, till 2 p.m. The General Insurance Business Amendment Bill, 2021 is scheduled to be discussed.

A few opposition members takes part in the discussion, but speak on reasons behind their protest. K. Raveendra Kumar says the Bill interferes with the powers of the State government. Minister Sarbanand Sonowal responds. He thanks members who participated in the discussion. He says the Bill doesn't intend to take away the rights of the States. The Bill is taken up for voting. Some members throw papers on the Chair. Despite ruckus the House passes the Bill.

Tirath Singh Rawat raises the issue of migration of people from the villages bordering China whereas Mohan Mandavi seeks residential facility for COVID warriors at health centres in his constituency. House is adjourned till 3.30 pm.
