During this period, more than half of the moon will be covered entirely by the shadow of the earth. According to the ministry, a partial lunar eclipse will be seen from all other parts of India except the far north-eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh this year. The partial lunar eclipse will last for 2 hours 59 minutes. According to the ministry, on July 16, most parts of Australia, Africa and South America, except Far North Scandinavia, will also be seen throughout Europe and the northeast, except in the entire Asia.

This time the lunar eclipse will take place on the 16th of July on the day of Guru Purnima. Such a rare coincidence is taking place after 149 years. Earlier in the year 1870, such a rare coincidence took a like.  According to Indian belief, the eclipse is given a lot of importance.
