Patna: Union Minister and Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) chief Pashupati Kumar Paras has clarified that there is no possibility of reconciliation with his nephew, Chirag Paswan. During the NDA meeting, Chirag Paswan touched his feet, leading to speculations of their party's reunion. However, Paras stated that this is not the case, and they have not joined hands again.
Paras also announced that he will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Bihar's Hajipur seat, asserting his right as an MP there, a cabinet minister in the Government of India, and an old and trusted ally of the NDA. Earlier, Chirag Paswan rejoined the NDA after meetings with BJP national president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. JP Nadda welcomed Chirag Paswan to the NDA family in a tweet.
Chirag Paswan had previously left the NDA in Bihar to oppose Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United), who was then in alliance with BJP. The LJP faced a split after the demise of Ram Vilas Paswan, with Pashupati Kumar Paras forming a faction that became part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet.
