The Supreme Court has approved the recommendations of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) related to the refund of passenger tickets. Flights postponed during the lockdown, for this DGCA is planning to refund the ticket money through credit shell. Supreme Court has ordered the airlines to immediately give refunds of postponed tickets during the lockdown. The court has said that if someone booked a travel ticket during the lockdown, then airlines should immediately return the money. On the other hand, if the ticket was canceled for the journey after the lockdown, the companies would have to return the money within three weeks.

On 25 September, the Supreme Court reserved its decision in the case of a money refund of the flights postponed during the lockdown. During the hearing of the case, the court had asked the companies, "Your company has a problem, why should passengers pay for it?"

During the hearing, the government said that it was only concerned with the passengers. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta appeared in the court on behalf of the government. He had said, "If a travel agent has deposited money in advance with the airlines, then we have nothing to say on that. 'Bulk purchase' of flight tickets cannot be done, it is only a contract between airline companies and travel agents, and the Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has nothing to do with it".
