Patidar leader Hardik Patel slapped during a public meeting in Gujarat

Ahmedabad:  Congress leader Hardik Patel on Friday was slapped at a public meeting in Surender nagar district, Gujarat.  Patel was slapped in Gujarat’s Surender nagar district during a Jan Aakrosh Sabha. Patel was addressing the audience at a Jan Aakrosh Sabha organised by party's district unit when a man climbed up on the stage and slapped the Patidar leader. The man is identified as Tarun Gajjar. Television visuals showed Patel was slapped when he was addressing the gathering. A man could be seen walking on the stage and slap Patel from his right side.

The 25-year-old, who led the Patidar reservation stir in Gujarat since 2015 and joined the Congress last month, has emerged as a star campaigner for the opposition party, crisscrossing the state in a helicopter to address poll rallies. The farmer, Vinay Patel had expressed his discontent with Patel, saying he is "playing politics on the bodies of those who died" during the Patidar reservation agitation.

Earlier on Thursday, a man hurled shoe on BJP leader, during a press conference at BJP headquarter in New Delhi. The man who hurled shoe on the leader identified himself as a doctor by profession. Shakti Bhargava, the man who hurled a shoe at BJP leader, is himself facing inquiries by the Income Tax Department in connection with buying properties, undisclosed income and unaccounted money.
