Patnaik reaches Japan, showcases investment opportunities in Odisha

TOKYO: Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha, has arrived in Japan for a week-long tour to seek for business prospects for his state.

High-ranking representatives from the government, including the Chief Secretary, the State Minister of Industries, MSME, and Energy, were present with the chief minister.

Leading businessmen from the steel, aluminium, textiles, food and seafood processing, green hydrogen, and green ammonia sectors make up an Odisha business delegation that has joined the official delegation from that state.

According to a statement from the chief minister's office, Patnaik is expected to have a private meeting with Eiji Hashimoto, Representative Director and President of Nippon Steel Corporation, on Tuesday to go over potential areas of cooperation.
Almost 200 industrialists, businesspeople, and investors from Japan and the Indo-Pacific Region are expected to attend the Odisha Business Meet 2023, which will be held in the Japanese capital on Wednesday.

In his remarks to investors, Chief Minister Patnaik would highlight the numerous current and future economic prospects in Odisha. He has an interactive engagement with the Odia Diaspora in Japan scheduled for the evening.

Upon his arrival in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, Patnaik expressed his hope that the visit will further solidify ties between Japan and his home state of Odisha and give both parties a chance to explore potential areas of shared interest.

Sibi George, the Indian ambassador to Japan, and other embassy staff members welcomed Patnaik upon his arrival.
