Bacchus lover will have to shell out more in Haryana with the new excise policy affecting an across the board increase of 20% in prices of all the brands of country liquor, Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), and foreign liquor in the state.
Excise Policy for the year 2017-18 was unveiled by excise and taxation minister Captain Abhimanyu on Sunday. The policy is being tagged as "vendor friendly" as it seems to favor the retailers than the buyers.
The license fee in Faridabad has also been increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 12 lakh and from Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 9 lakh in other districts of the state. So, now those living in Gurugram and Faridabad excise zones will have to pay more for drinking in pubs and bars.
Capt Abhimanyu, the finance minister of Haryana said 'Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar' has approved this policy. The flexible norms will ensure ease of doing business and the policy itself is aimed at boosting the revenue collection of the state.
Abhimanyu will present his third budget on Monday. The excise department achieved the revenue target of just Rs 4,071crore against the target of 4,900 crores. He hinted at fixing Rs 5,500 crore as the target for the next financial year.
