The incidence of fraud through online payment app is increasing continuously. In the latest case, the user of Mumbai lost 96 thousand rupees when he was paying the electricity bill through Google Pay. During this, he received the message of transaction failure on the payment app. According to a report from trak.in, this user was searching the customer care number on Google.com. When this user called on the fake number found on searching, the fraudster told him that the failure of the transaction is a common thing and there is no need to bother with it. After this, the fake executive asked the user to click on a text message link sent by him. These fraudsters cleverly persuaded the user to click on the link. After this, as soon as the user clicked on the link, 96,000 were transferred from his account to the account of some unknown person. The money was transferred from the same bank account of the user which was linked to Google Pay. 

For your information, let us tell you that in the last few months, many cases of this type of fraud have been reported. In this, fake customer care numbers of popular apps have also been cheated. In July 2018, a user incurred a loss of Rs 2.2 lakh when he was ordering food from a renowned food app. In this case, fake executives found on fake customer care number had cleverly sought the user's OTP. Shortly after telling the OTP, when the user checked the phone, he got a message of transfer of 2.2 lakh rupees from the account. In the same fraud a few months ago, Rs 95,000 was stolen from the account of a woman from Bengaluru. This woman was ordering food from Swiggy. She called a fake customer care number to get some information about the transaction.
