PayNearby Launches Digital Naari Platform to Empower Women

PayNearby, a company specializing in branchless banking and digital services, has introduced a new platform aimed at creating opportunities for women to become self-employed. The initiative, called Digital Naari, seeks to provide women in rural and semi-urban areas with avenues to generate sustainable income, according to a statement released by the company on Saturday.

Through Digital Naari, women, referred to as 'banker didis,' will be able to offer a wide range of financial and digital services to the public. They will have the flexibility to choose when and where to provide these services, whether from their homes or a store, catering to the convenience of both themselves and their customers.

Anand Kumar Bajaj, the founder, Managing Director, and CEO of PayNearby, highlighted the company's partnerships with various livelihood missions, such as the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission, Rajasthan Grameen Aajeevika Vikas Parishad, and Grameen Foundation India. These collaborations, he said, are empowering numerous women, offering them economic independence and societal recognition through the Digital Naari app.

The services offered through Digital Naari are tailored to meet the needs of rural women, encompassing cash withdrawal, bank account opening, money transfer, recharge, insurance, asset assurance, credit, and e-commerce. By providing these services, the platform aims to promote financial literacy and independence among women in rural areas.

In alignment with the government's 'Lakhpati Didi' initiative, Digital Naari aims to onboard and uplift 100,000 women by 2025, thereby contributing to their economic empowerment. The platform targets women entrepreneurs, single women, and those facing literacy challenges, providing them with sustainable livelihood opportunities to improve their financial well-being and foster self-reliance.

Currently, PayNearby's network comprises over 10,000 women who collectively facilitate transactions totaling more than Rs 1,000 crore annually. The company aims to expand this network further by collaborating with organizations, self-help groups, and individuals committed to advancing sustainable livelihoods among rural women.
