New Delhi: The Pakistan Cricket Board has taken a big decision on the toss. The Board has decided not to toss in first-class cricket from the domestic season. For the first time in Pakistan's cricket history, there will be no toss in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (first class). A PCB source said: "The guest team will have the opportunity to choose the decision of batting or fielding first. This is being done to make the game neutral so that the home team does not get any extra benefit.

"If there is a situation in which both the teams are adamant on batting first then the match referee will resort to the toss. Usually, the home team helps the fast bowlers make the pitch. We feel we will make a better pitch this domestic season so that we get to see a good game in first-class cricket. The pitch curators will be given full attention so that they do the right thing.

"The ODI and T20 series will continue the toss system as before," he said, adding that PCB Chief Executive Officer Wasim Khan had put the idea on which other board officials responded positively. "I was surprised to see the scorecard of first-class cricket in the past few days.

I felt something wrong. The matches were over early and very few were being scored. The first class didn't see any tough competition that should be. Apart from the toss, we are working on more options to improve first-class cricket. "The PCB will start the new season with the Quaid Azam Trophy from September 12.
