Peanut and peanut are the most common crops in Rayalaseema districts. Since the production of both the seeds has been in the hands of private companies for decades, farmers who do not get quality seed on time are facing severe difficulties every year. The government also relies on these companies for the seed supplied on subsidy. When the companies supply, they are required to buy at the prices they set, regardless of the quality. Quality problems arise in cultivation, as companies have to depend on the kindness of the companies. In some cases, farmers are severely affected by inferior seeds. The sprout sprouts or expected yields are in debt. The Agriculture Department has prepared a plan to overcome this situation by making its own seed with the government.

7.03 lakh hectares in groundnut kharif and 82,605 hectares in Rabi and 4.60 lakh hectares in Gram Rabi. Ap seeds are usually supplied with seed sown for cultivation in 30 per cent area. In the last Kharif, 4.39 lakh quintals of groundnut seed were distributed at 40 per cent subsidy. Of this, 1.43 lakh quintals of seed were collected from the Farmers Producers Organization (FPO) and the rest was purchased from private companies. In the current Rabi, 1.41 lakh quintals of seed were collected from private companies and distributed at 30 per cent subsidy.

For peanut and groundnut seeds, the government had to rely entirely on private companies to give farmers and subsidies. With the intention of checking this situation, we have focused on the development of seed sown on our own through the Rural Seed Production Scheme. The seed produced in the current Rabi season will meet the needs of the upcoming Kharif season. By the 2022-23 season, we have planned to provide the entire peanut and peanut seed on subsidy. For this purpose, we are going to increase the area for seed production in the next Rabi season.

The Agriculture Department focused on its own seed in accordance with the government's commitment to provide the farmerwith the farmer's assurance centres (RBK) to pre-test edited quality seed every season. For this purpose, 39,000 acres of peanut sown and 4,687 acres of peanut seed have been started in selected villages in the rabi season under the Rural Seed Production Scheme. 10 hectares as a unit at least 50 farmers and maximum 150 farmers have been selected and specialized in seed production. They were supplied with the original seed at 75 per cent subsidy. At least 3 lakh quintals of groundnut and 26,000 quintals of peanut seed are expected to be available through the current crop.

It was decided to supply these seeds on subsidy from kharif from the farmers through APSEEDs. This policy will give the farmer a reasonable price and the farmer who gets a subsidized seed will get quality seed. Private companies also focus on quality as their own seed production increases competition. The seed is available to farmers through RBKs at a lower price than in the past.
