United States: As Beijing prepares to impose a no-fly zone or restricted navigation zone in the Taiwan Strait to thwart travel, the South China Morning Post reported on Wednesday that US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan was one can come along. Unexpected risk of military conflict between Chinese and American forces.

Beijing is deeply concerned about Pelosi's alleged plans to visit Taiwan in the coming weeks. The United States has been critical of China on several occasions for maintaining diplomatic relations with Taiwan, claiming that doing so violates China's sovereignty and territorial integrity and leads to unrest in the region.

According to military experts cited in the newspaper, Beijing will use all available means, including diplomatic, economic and even military, to prevent Pelosi from visiting Taiwan if it insists on doing so.

He made reference to the Third Taiwan Straits Crisis, which occurred in 1995–1996 and saw Washington send two aircraft carriers and strike groups to the area in an attempt to prevent the PLA from using its missile exercises on the pretext of invading Taiwan. .

According to Li, the Chinese military already has two aircraft carriers, so it would be too risky for either side to send such ships into the water. The US military has previously said it could send an aircraft carrier to escort Pelosi if necessary.

Meanwhile, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law professor Ni Lexiong claimed that the closure of the military and technological gap between Beijing and Washington has resulted in the Chinese government becoming more vocal and less tolerant of US provocations and challenges.

Ni also believes that Beijing still favors using diplomatic channels to persuade the US to postpone Pelosi's visit.

Under condition of anonymity, a military source told the newspaper that Pelosi's visit could take place on August 1, the anniversary of the founding of the PLA. The Chinese military is likely to conduct extensive military exercises in the Taiwan Strait at that time, involving several warships and aircraft. Since the US may attempt to take Pelosi by warship from a US naval base in Okinawa, in their opinion, Chinese forces will be more active in patrolling the Taiwan Strait and Taiwan's east coast.
