New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced to use the proceeds from the e-auction of his gifts for the 'Namami Gange' programme. This decision of PM Modi has attracted people from every corner of the country to bid for these items. Ranganath Achar of a chartered accountant in Udupi and Dr Sanjeev Jain, who practices in Raipur, have bought some gifts given to PM Modi. He is confident that such bidding will help in cleaning the holy river Ganga.

Sanjeev Jain further said that drinking water is a serious issue globally and there is no bigger source for it in India than the river Ganga. He said that there is no one better than PM Modi for this campaign. Jain said he has been procuring various items through e-auction since 2019 and has spent around Rs 3 lakh on the purchase so far. He bought a statue of Lord Vishnu for Rs 1.75 lakh, which was gifted to PM Modi.

At the same time, Ranganath Achar bought a picture of Lord Kartikeya last year. He had said that he would participate in the auction this year as well. He has also inspired many others to participate in the auction. He said he has travelled through the river Ganga from Gangotri to West Bengal, where the river joins the Bay of Bengal. He said he wanted to see the holy river free of all pollution.
