New Delhi: The only reason for the decline in production of all crops, including Kharif, so far is unseasonal rainfall. The rains have caused huge losses to crops but are now affecting the prices of everything. This year, sesame production also declined by 25 percent, so sesame prices will continue to rise on the eve of Makar Sankranti. Farmers adopt one or more options to increase production but the yield of sesame seeds in the country is declining as the yield per acre is lower than other crops. As a result, the prices of sesame seeds in the state have increased by Rs. 40 to Rs. 50 in the last 4 months. It is estimated that only 3 lakh 25 thousand metric tonnes can be produced this year.

Unseasonal rainfall has also affected the quality of sesame seeds. The rainfall has not only reduced production but also reduced the quality of sesame seeds, while the same rainfall has also led to an increase in the production of light and low-quality sesame seeds. In such a situation, there is a high demand for good-quality sesame seeds during the festival of Makar Sankranti. Sesame production is grown in these states including MP, UP, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha.

This is why there is a demand for white sesame seeds:-
Sesame is in demand due to the Makar Sankranti festival but it is also of special importance in terms of health White sesame contains healthy iron, copper, vitamin B6 It allows blood cells to be easily formed and functioned Black sesame has anti-aging properties and makes bones strong and healthy Besides, Sesame is an excellent source of fiber, which helps in reducing cholesterol and triglycerides, experts say, so there is a demand for black sesame as well as white sesame seeds.

Sesame prices have been steadily increasing:-

August – 100 – Rs. 130
September – 110 – Rs. 140
