In 2018, the case of suicide of an interior designer has once again come under discussion. This matter is trending on Twitter and this case is being compared to the suicide case of Sushant Singh Rajput. In this case, Maharashtra Police had filed a case against the editor-in-chief of Republic TV Arnab Goswami and two others, Feroz Sheikh and Nitesh Sarada.

All three were accused of abetting the interior designer Anvay Naik (53) and his mother to commit suicide. A prominent web portal stated "Before committing suicide, Anvay left a suicide note. In it, he wrote that the accused forced him to commit suicide because they were unable to repay arrears of 5.40 crore rupees. The bodies of both Anvay Naik and his mother was found in his farmhouse in Alibag. Body of Anvay was found hanging from the fan and the body of his mother was found on the bed.

His wife Akshata Naik then lodged a police complaint and according to the FIR, it was reported that Arnab Goswami owed Rs 83 lakh under the Bombay Dyeing Studio project. Feroze Sheikh had taken four crores rupees for his ongoing project in Andheri, which he allegedly did not pay. 55 lakh rupees were owed to the third accused Nitesh Sarada. He had taken the money for his two projects at Magarpatta and Baner.

In this case, Raigad District Superintendent of Police Anil Paraskar had said that 'the deceased in his suicide note had blamed Arnab Goswami, Feroz Sheikh and Nitesh Sarada for abetment to suicide. In this case, Republic TV editor Niranjan Narayanaswamy had said, "Due to vested interests some groups are carrying out a false and malicious campaign against Republic TV and giving false statements in the unfortunate death of Anvay Naik. Under the agreement, all the dues were repaid by Republic TV. Ever since the Sushant suicide case has come to light, people have also been demanding justice for Anvay Naik, the managing director of an architectural and interior designing firm in Mumbai."
