The screening of the movie 'The Kerala Story' has also been done on Monday (May 8, 2023) at 'Forum Rangoli Mall' located in Belur area of Howrah, West Bengal. The BJP alleges that the Bengal Police first stopped the screening. After which they dragged the people who came to watch the movie out of the mall.

In the video going viral on social media, policemen have also been seen pulling people by their collars. The BJP is attacking the Mamata Banerjee government on this whole incident. In a conversation with the media, Pratyush Singh, the media in-charge of West Bengal BJYM, has said that he reiterated his point and said, “There was no incident of any kind due to the running of the film in the theatres. But the Jaziakhor government goons who went in the guise of police to stop the movie have destroyed the law and order and have also destroyed the dignity of democracy. These government goons have dragged people watching the film out by holding their collars.”

Continuing his point, Pratyush Singh has said that this is a complete violation of fundamental rights. According to him, the kind of acts done by the Bengal Police with the audience shows that the government is inhuman, barbaric, tyrannical and dictatorial. He has also said that BJP and BJYM are going to protest against this in entire West Bengal.

BJP leader Rakesh Singh has also tweeted, “Mamata Banerjee is crushing civil liberties and freedom of expression in West Bengal. The video is allegedly from Rangoli Mall in Howrah." Regarding the law and order situation in the state, he said, “People who want to watch movies are being attacked. Mamta Banerjee's police has also troubled the innocent spectators. These people had come to see the movie passed by the censor board. This is a complete violation of basic fundamental rights." BJP's media panelist Ashutosh Jha has said about this, "Police action against innocent bystanders who went there to watch a movie passed by the censor board is a complete violation of basic fundamental rights." At the same time, he appealed for the intervention of the Governor of West Bengal in this matter.
