Mumbai: A Mumbai-based lawyer has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking z+ category protection for Serum Institute CEO Adar Poonawalla and his family. In fact, at present, the Serum Institute is making the Covishield vaccine of the corona. The petition filed by advocate Dutta Mane has sought the filing of FIR against those who had threatened Adar Poonawalla over the supply of vaccines. In fact, Dutta Mane has said in her petition that "if vaccine makers feel unsafe, it can affect the production of the vaccine.''

Further, the petition filed said, "If Adar Poonawalla is out of the country for fear of life, it will be like a ship without a captain in a storm. Adar Poonawalla, the CEO of the world's largest vaccine manufacturing company, should be protected. Dutta Mane has also cited media reports that Poonawalla has left for the UK due to pressure from powerful people, including chief ministers and business tycoons, to supply the vaccine.'' In his petition, Dutta Mane said, "He was surprised when in an interview Poonawalla said that he was being threatened through powerful people. Vaccinating more than 13 billion people is a big challenge. A dose of 15,40,00,000 vaccines has been given, which is 2 percent of the total population.''

He has also said, "This will lead to failure to control the epidemic in India and could have disastrous consequences, which will also affect health infrastructure. The Y category security given to Poonawalla of the Home Ministry seemed inadequate, after which Poonawalla left the country.'' In the same petition, Mane claimed that he had lodged a complaint with the Pune Police Commissioner and Director General of Police, Maharashtra. The Maharashtra government had requested Poonawalla to file a complaint so that action could be taken against the pressure makers.
