Petrol and diesel prices fell nationwide for the fifth straight day

New Delhi: On Monday, Following the daily revision in fuel prices, petrol prices fell for the fifth straight day while diesel also became cheaper. Petrol prices in all the metro cities fell between 10-16 paise per litre on Monday while diesel became cheaper by 8-12 paise. Petrol prices in New Delhi were cut by 15 paise to Rs 70.59 a litre on Monday, February 4, 2019 as against Rs 70.74 on Sunday. Diesel in the national capital became cheaper by   10 paise to Rs 65.61 as compared to Rs 65.71 yesterday.

While In Mumbai, petrol prices fell by 15 paise to Rs 76.22 today as against Rs 76.37 on Sunday and diesel price fell to 68.70, down 11 paise from Sunday's price. In the other two metro cities like Chennai and Kolkata, petrol prices fell by 16 paise and 14 paise respectively to Rs 73.27 and Rs 72.70 respectively. Diesel in these cities became cheaper by 10 paise to Rs 69.31 and Rs 67.39 respectively. In Noida, petrol price fell to Rs 70.45 and diesel is trading at Rs 64.84 while in Gurugram, petrol, diesel prices fell to Rs 71.47 and Rs 65.43 respectively, tracking a fall in international crude prices.

However, crude oil prices edged lower on Monday after sharp gains during the previous session but were supported by expectations of shrinking supply and signs that China-US trade tensions could ease. Crude oil prices fell by up to 0.20% in Asian trade on Monday. brent crude was hovering around $62.65 per barrel while WTI crude was trading at $55.18 per barrel.
