Amid the Corona crisis, the general public has suffered another setback. The Maharashtra government has also increased the tax on petrol and diesel. Maharashtra government has increased the cess on fuel by Rs 2 per liter. As a result, the price of petrol and diesel has increased by two rupees per liter in the state from June 1. On Monday, one liter petrol is being sold in Mumbai at Rs 78.32 per liter and one liter of diesel at Rs 68.21 per liter. Earlier in the month of March, the state government increased VAT by one rupee per liter on both petrol and diesel.

For your information, let us tell you that many states of the country, which are facing revenue shortage, have increased taxes on petrol and diesel. Earlier, the government of Mizoram, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Maharashtra, Karnataka, West Bengal and Haryana have also increased taxes on petrol and diesel. Recently, the Mizoram government had decided to increase VAT on petrol and diesel. The Mizoram government had decided to increase the prices of petrol and diesel by 2.5 percent and 5 percent respectively. This increase in prices has become effective from June 1. As a result, Aizawl is getting an increase of petrol on Monday at Rs 69 per liter and diesel at Rs 61.62 per liter.

Talking about the national capital Delhi, then prices of petrol and diesel have remained unchanged for more than two months. Petrol is being sold on Monday in Delhi at Rs 71.26 per liter and diesel at Rs 69.39 per liter. On the other hand, in Kolkata, on Monday, petrol is getting its old price at Rs 73.30 per liter and diesel at Rs 65.62 per liter. Talking about Chennai, here too petrol is getting its old price at Rs 75.54 per liter on Monday and diesel at Rs 68.22 per liter.
