New Delhi: On Wednesday, State-controlled oil marketing companies kept retail petrol and diesel prices unchanged for a second day in four metro cities. In national capital Delhi, petrol is being sold for Rs 70.33 per litre while diesel costs Rs 65.62 a litre, no change compared to yesterday's price.

Worth mentioning here is that petrol, diesel prices were increased on Monday and petrol became costlier by 5 paise across major cities of the country while diesel became dearer by 6-7 paise per litre.

In Chennai, petrol and diesel are selling for Rs 73 a litre and Rs 69.32 per litre, as per data available with Indian Oil Corp website. Petrol price is retailing at Rs 72.44 per litre and diesel can be availed at Rs 67.40 a litre in Kolkata, no change in price as against Tuesday’s rates. People in Mumbai have to pay Rs 75.97 for a litre of petrol while diesel retailed at Rs 68.71 per litre. In Noida also, petrol price remained unchanged at Rs 70.25 and diesel price at Rs 64.85. In Gurugram, petrol, diesel prices remained steady at Rs 71.26 and Rs 65.44 respectively.

On Wednesday, in the international oil market, crude prices went higher amid as OPEC had reduced supply in January and as US curbs hit Venezuela's oil exports. International Brent crude oil futures were trading at USD 62.93 per barrel, up 51 cents, or 0.8 per cent, from their last close. It may be noted that retail petrol price had peaked to Rs 84 a litre in Delhi and it crossed the Rs 91 mark in Mumbai in October 2018.
