New Delhi: After the strengthening of crude oil prices in the global market, the process of increasing the prices of petrol and diesel has started again. Oil marketing companies on Friday increased petrol and diesel prices for the second consecutive day. In Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai, the price of petrol has again increased by 6 paise per liter. The price of diesel has increased by 15 paise in Delhi, while in Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai by 16 paise.

According to the website of Indian Oil, petrol prices in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai have increased to Rs 74.74, Rs 77.40, Rs 80.40 and Rs 77.70 per liter respectively. Diesel prices have increased to Rs 67.24, Rs 69.66, Rs 70.55 and Rs 71.09 per liter in the 4 metros of Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai respectively.

In the global market, the price of crude, the benchmark crude oil, has increased by about 8 dollars per barrel this month. Brent crude prices have been at an upper level for more than 3 months. Brent crude's February delivery contract on the Intercontinental Exchange was trading above $ 68 a barrel, the highest since a September attack on Saudi Arabian oil company Saudi Aramco.
