Oil marketing companies have released the latest prices of petrol and diesel. In the national market today (Sunday), that is, on January 23, 2022, there has been no change in the prices of vehicle fuel petrol and diesel. Petrol and diesel prices at the national level have been stable for two and a half months. State that on 3rd November 2021, after the Central Government reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs. 5 and Rs. 10 respectively, all the states had also reduced VAT on petrol. On the other hand, the price of diesel is also stable at Rs 86.67 per litre. If you talk about four major metros (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai), Mumbai, the economic capital of the country, has the highest fuel prices. Petrol in Mumbai is around Rs 110 while diesel is across Rs 94 per litre. State that the prices of petrol and diesel vary in the states due to VAT and freight rates on oil. Coming to metros, petrol and diesel are the cheapest in Delhi.
