International crude oil prices fell below $80 a barrel, reaching over $86 a barrel last month. Indian petroleum companies have not changed the prices of petrol and diesel even today (Wednesday). The prices of petrol and diesel at the national level have not increased since the central government reduced excise duty.
In the meantime, oil prices are expected to get further relief. India has decided to release 5million barrels of crude oil from its emergency oil reserves (Strategic Petroleum Reserve). The crude oil withdrawal will take place after discussions with large crude oil consumer countries like the US, China, Japan and South Korea. This is expected to bring down crude oil availability in the market as well as bring down its prices. Tell us that at the Indian Oil pump in Delhi today (Wednesday), petrol prices are still stable at Rs 103.97 and diesel at Rs 86.67 per litre on November 24.
