Srinagar: In Jammu and Kashmir, tax on petrol has been increased by two rupees per liter. The tax on diesel has been increased by one rupee a liter. According to news agency PTI, the new tax rates will be applicable from June 1. Apart from Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi took similar steps last week. Himachal Pradesh has also announced a hike in rates on diesel and petrol from June 1.

The current petrol in Jammu is being sold 70.04 paise and diesel 62.08 paise. After the new rates are implemented, the drivers will have to loose their pockets a little more for petrol and diesel. According to the news of Live Mint, from next month, government oil marketing companies are preparing to revise the price of petrol and diesel daily. In media reports, official sources were quoted as saying that the state-owned oil marketing companies had a meeting last week on retail fuel.
Rules can be changed after lockdown ends
In this meeting, taking stock of the current situation, a roadmap was prepared for the lockdown. After the lockdown, there has also been discussion on revising the price of petrol and diesel as before. According to the information given on the IOC website, the price of one liter of petrol in Delhi on Friday is Rs 71.26. The price of diesel is Rs 69.39 per liter.
