New Delhi: The retail prices of petrol and diesel increased across major cities of the India. petrol became dearer by 9 paise a litre while diesel prices went up by 5 per litre.
Talking about price in Delhi, as per data from Indian Oil Corporation website, petrol prices rose to Rs 71.86 a litre as against Rs 71.77 on Monday while diesel price peaked to Rs 66.69 per litre as compared to Rs 66.64 on Monday.

The retail petrol price was raised by 9 paise to Rs 73.92 from Rs 73.83 recorded on Monday in Kolkata. Diesel prices too have hiked by 5 paise from yesterday’s rate price of Rs 68.40 a litre. Similarly, in Chennai, petrol is retailing at Rs 74.59, 9 paise higher than Monday’s rate of Rs 74.50 per litre while diesel price is set at Rs 70.50, 5 paise more than yesterday's price of Rs 70.45 a litre.

In Mumbai, people have to shell out Rs 77.47 for a litre of petrol after a 5 paise increase over Monday’s rate. A litre of diesel costs Rs 69.88, 5 paise dearer than yesterday’s rate of Rs 69.83 per liter.
It is worth noting that the pump prices of petrol and dies in Delhi are the cheapest among all metros and most state capitals due to lower taxes.
