New Delhi: On Tuesday, It is greeting news that state-controlled oil marketing companies hacked retail petrol and diesel. After today's price revision, petrol became cheaper by 8-9 paise across major cities of the country while diesel became cheaper by 11 paise per litre. In the national capital Delhi, petrol is sold at Rs 71.19 as against Rs 71.27 yesterday and diesel is retailing at Rs 65.89 as compared to Rs 66 on Monday.
However In Mumbai, according to data available on Indian Oil Corporation website the retail prices of petrol and diesel are Rs 76.82 a litre and Rs 69 a litre respectively, Petrol was sold at Rs 76.90 a litre while the price of diesel was Rs 69.11 per litre in Mumbai on Monday. Citizens in Chennai Kolkata have to pay Rs 73.90 for a litre of petrol while diesel retailed at Rs 69.61 per litre. In Kolkata, petrol is sold at Rs 73.28, down 8 paise compared to yesterday’s price of Rs 73.36 a litre, and diesel is sold at Rs 67.67, down 11 paise from Rs 67.78 a litre on Monday.

The prices of petrol in Noida and Gurugram are at Rs 70.90 and Rs 71.93 respectively. Diesel, on the other hand, costs Rs 65.05 in Noida and Rs 65.66 in Gurugram. A sharp rise in retail petrol and diesel prices were recorded in India for a couple of months till October 4 last year. Petrol price had climbed to Rs 84 a litre in Delhi and it crossed the Rs 91 mark in Mumbai.
In the international oil market, basic prices edge up after the Donald Trump administration imposed curbs on Venezuela's state-owned oil company PdVSA in a move aimed at limiting the OPEC member's crude exports to the United States. International Brent crude oil futures were trading at $60.08 per barrel, up 15 cents, or 0.3 per cent, from their last close.
