The prices of petrol and diesel were continuously increasing for the last three weeks. During this time, the price of petrol has increased by Rs 9.12 and the price of diesel by Rs 10.77. Petrol price was increased by 25 paise and diesel by 21 paise on Saturday. Petrol in Mumbai is available at Rs 87.14 a liter and diesel at Rs 78.71 a liter. Petrol prices are continuously increasing in the country's financial capital, while people are relieved by the prices of diesel. Petrol in Kolkata is being sold at Rs 82.05 per liter and diesel at Rs 75.52. Similarly, petrol is available in Chennai at Rs 83.59 and diesel at Rs 77.61.

The prices of petrol and diesel were increasing from June 7. Prior to this, their prices remained the same for 83 days due to Corona lockdown. On June 24 in Delhi, this was the first time in many decades that diesel prices had exceeded petrol. This caused a setback to those who pay more money for diesel vehicles.
