New Delhi: After nearly three weeks of growth, diesel prices remained stable on Tuesday. There has been no change in the price of petrol as well. Along with the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel in the last few days, there is a nationwide opposition to this. In such a situation, there is pressure on oil companies to keep oil prices stable.

According to the website of Indian Oil, the price of petrol in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai is Rs 80.43, Rs 82.10, Rs 87.19 and Rs 83.63 per liter respectively. Diesel is also being sold in the four metros at Rs 80.53, Rs 75.64, Rs 78.83 and Rs 77.72 per liter respectively. Earlier on Monday, oil marketing companies increased petrol price by four-five paise per liter, while diesel price was increased by 11-13 paise per liter.

In the national capital Delhi, the price of diesel has increased by Rs 11.14 a liter so far, while the price of petrol has increased by Rs 9.17. In the country's capital region, expensive diesel is being sold from petrol. Explain that the price of petrol and diesel varies among states because the rate of sales tax or value added tax (VAT) on fuel is different in each state.
