New Delhi: Rising oil prices have given a little relief to the general public today on Saturday. The state-of-the-state oil companies have cut diesel prices by 13 paise today, but there is no revision in petrol prices. Diesel prices in Delhi have gone up to Rs 73.27, while petrol is priced at Rs 82.08 per litre.

According to media reports, government oil companies Indian Oil (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) have again increased diesel prices on Saturday. But there is no change in the prices of petrol. Petrol has become costlier by Rs 1.65 per litre in the last 18 days. If you talk of diesel, it has become cheaper twice in the last three days. Petrol prices in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai have gone up by Rs 82.08, Rs 88.73, Rs 83.57 and Rs 85.04 per litre respectively. Diesel in the said cities is selling at Rs 73.27, Rs 79.81, Rs 76.77 and Rs 78.58 per litre respectively.

The oil companies introduce new rates every day at 6 o'clock in the morning. After adding excise duty, dealer commission and other taxes to the price of petrol and diesel, the price is doubled. Everyday companies determine the prices of petrol and diesel based on oil prices in the global market with foreign market rates.
