It is now becoming clear in the Corona era that the government has no other option but to increase revenue from petroleum products. If this is not done, the retail price of petrol in the domestic market is not increased by 59 paise and diesel by 58 paise per liter. The oil companies made this increase on Saturday. In seven days, petrol has been increased by Rs 3.90 per liter and diesel by Rs 4 per liter. This situation is when the price of crude in the international market is still 37-38 dollars per dollar. In this way, when the crude was at the level of $ 60-65 per barrel four months ago, even then the general public does not have to buy petrol and diesel so expensive.

This increase meant that when the price of crude dropped from $ 60 to $ 30 per barrel in a few days, then the general public did not get the benefit. Now it has increased to just 7-8 dollars per barrel, then they have to bear the burden. According to the figures of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, India purchased crude at an average of $ 33.60 per barrel in March 2020. In the first month (April-2020) of the current financial year, it came down to $ 19.90 per barrel. In May it rose again to $ 30.60 per barrel level.

Now on the other side, in April and May, petrol in Delhi has been Rs 69.59 per liter and diesel is Rs 62.29 per liter. On Saturday, its price has been Rs 75.16 per liter and Rs 73.39 per liter respectively. Talking only about these months, there was no benefit to the customers when the price of crude dropped by $ 10. But as soon as the price increased by seven dollars, the price increased from 3.90 to 4 rupees.
