New Delhi: Rising petrol and diesel inflation may provide relief to the people soon. A panel of Ministers will consider levying tax on petroleum products under the single national rate on goods and services tax. According to those reporting the case, important steps can be taken for possible major changes in consumer price and government revenue.

The same can be decided at the 45th GST Council meeting to be held in Lucknow on Friday. A panel headed by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will plan on it. In fact, any change in the GST system requires approval from three-fourths of the panel. It will include representatives from all states and regions. However, some of the proposals have opposed the inclusion of fuel in the GST as they say they will hand over a major revenue-generating tool to the Central government.

It may be recalled that petrol and diesel prices are continuously rising all over India, which has left the common man troubled. However, in the meantime, let me tell you that petrol and diesel prices are stable for the ninth consecutive day on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Even then, petrol is at 101.19 paise per litre in the capital Delhi. Diesel is Rs 88.62 per litre. Petrol in Mumbai is Rs 107.26 per litre. Also, diesel is 96.19 paise per litre. This step of the same Government can give a lot of relief to the common man.
